William David Evans (born 1828 or 1829) was a Cleveland, Ohio, resident who served as principal musician in Company G, 27th Regiment, Ohio Volunteer Infantry during the American Civil War. The collection consists of seven pocket diaries which describe Evans' Civil War experiences.
